Congratulations to our Varsity Girls basketball team on a great season!  We are rooting for our Varsity Boys basketball team as they play in the finals tonight against St. Francis! Basketball decorations courtesy of the 8th grade girls. The school community culminated our celebration of Black History Month this week.  At the celebration, the students listened and danced to songs by artists from Louis Armstrong to Whitney Houston, sketched and colored depictions of famous figures, and hosted a game of Black History Month trivia with facts we learned all month during our morning broadcast.  Reminders: 1. We started the week by celebrating our Varsity Girls Basketball team.  Specifically, we honored the 8th grade girls before they played their last home game in which they won against St. Mary Magdalene.   Go Dragons! We also celebrated Parent Visitation today and displayed the Science Expo projects.  This year, the projects for the 8th grade were a little different than those in the traditional science fair.  Eighth grade students were invited to research topics that they were passionate about.  The possibilities in this research were endless and we were very proud of the outcome!  Great work, eighth grade! Reminders: 1. We are selling Gertrude Hawk chocolate as a fundraiser.  Booklets went home with your students today.  Orders are due Thursday, March 5th. 2. Pajama Day is Thursday, February 13th.  To dress down in pajamas, students must donate either new pajamas or $2.00. 3. We are switching days next week to accommodate a special event.  Please note

Tradition

Image
This week, the eighth grade helped the fifth grade facilitate Las Posadas, which is a re-enactment of Mary and Joseph’s pilgrimage to Bethlehem.  They  prayed to make room in their hearts for the coming of Jesus, enjoyed churros, sang a traditional song, presented paper candles to our Nativity, and broke open piñatas full of candy!  This will be a tradition we continue to celebrate at HCA. We will celebrate other traditions next week like our traditional milk and cookies and special full school pizza lunch.  Reminders: Please send in your pizza money.  Friday the 20th will be free dress for the students.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!
