Balancing it all!

Image
The eighth grade students are balancing a lot this time of year - shadow days and high school applications, current classes, extracurriculars, mission party preparation, etc.  It is important to take the time to enjoy "free" time like recess, especially with this beautiful weather! This year, the eighth grade students will take a main role in the preparation of the yearbook.  They will be responsible for taking pictures and creating page layouts, ensuring that we have captured all of the students here at HCA.  Don't be surprised if you see them walking around school with a camera! Next Wednesday, 10/30, we will be taking a full school aerial photo via drone.  Students should wear their fall/spring uniforms.  This is not a gym day for 8th grade so this is not a change. Next week is also the Mission Party - 10/31.  We have been busy preparing games and activities for the younger students.  Please make sure to come check out their work in the g

Founder’s Day

We had a great week in 8th grade!  Currently, we are planning our activities for the Mission Party on October 31st.  The students are working hard on creating fun and exciting games for the younger students. October 15, the feast of St. Teresa of Avila, is observed as the formal founding of the Society of the Holy Child Jesus.   This week, we paid tribute to St. Teresa with a beautiful prayer service.  At this prayer service, we also held our service commissioning where all of the grades announced their service partners.   8th grade will be partnering with Little Flower and Providence Center.  This year, we also held a morning of Founder’s Day activities where the middle school students led activities for the younger students.  Everyone  really enjoyed themselves! Some Reminders- Camp Out for Hunger - We are collecting non-perishable food AND wet and dry dog and cat food for Philadbundance.  Drive ends 10/31 The Book Fair is the week of the 28th.  Eighth grade will have time to shop i

Celebration of Volleyball

Image
Today we celebrated the Girls' Volleyball Team at a Pep Rally!  It was great to have the whole school with us to get ready for Sunday's big game - HCA at 5:30pm!  Hope to see you there! We also had Intramural Volleyball today, resulting in a win for each team!  We are looking forward to next week's sets.   Looking ahead to next week, we have Class photos on October 9th and Individual photos on October 10th.   The eighth grade  class  will have their  individual  portraits taken in graduation cap and gown. These  photos  will be professionally taken and used as their yearbook  photo .  On I ndividual   picture  day the eighth graders will still have free dress as in the past, but would need to change into a different top at the time of  pictures : dress shirt and tie for the boys, white camisole/shirt for the girls. Once  pictures  are over, they can change back into their free dress.
